1904 Spicer School House
This one room school house was built in 1904
one half mile north of Hickory Corners, which is
about 13 miles southeast of the museum. Many of
the first students were members of the Spicer
family and so the school got it's name. It is
furnished with many of the original desks, chalk
boards, books and even the original Union Jack
flag. The smaller children sat in the smaller
desks at the front of the classroom, and the
larger students at the back. One teacher could
have 8 different grades to teach. The school was
the first large building to be moved to the
museum in 1971.
